Gulfstream Park, a thoroughbred-racing track that dates back to 1939, received a massive renovation that dramatically altered the look of the facility and ushered in a new era of racing and entertainment.
One of the largest operators of premier horse tracks in the United States selected the BRPH team for the redevelopment of this 200-acre Hallandale Beach park. The redevelopment radically transformed the racetrack into a mega-center of horse, racing, entertainment, gaming and shopping.
In 2006, Gulfstream opened for its first race, sporting a new 4-story clubhouse, walking ring, covered paddock area, grandstands and an enlarged 1 1/8-mile main track. The design team incorporated various design themes throughout the facilities casino, four restaurants, 22 luxury suites, private club for top players, multiple fast food eateries, 1,000-seat grandstand, 440-seat sports theater, and many viewing areas.
Future plans at Gulfstream include an addition for slot machines, retail/office complex with up to 80 stores, 1,500 condominiums, a movie theatre, and a hotel. But the biggest addition is currently in the works – a 110 ft. tall mythical Pegasus bronze statue. It will represent one of the tallest bronze statues anywhere in the United States once complete.
