For Embraer's fourth consecutive project on its Melbourne International Airport campus, an Engineering and Technology Center, we paid particular attention to incorporating Embraer's company culture into the overall design. Special design considerations included organic campus design, site amenities for outdoor seating areas, technologically advanced meeting spaces, and technical elements such as prototype shops, production rooms for model assembly, and validation rooms for structural and avionics testing.
The ultra-modern facility houses research and development for the company's executive jets division and replaces its existing engineering and technology center in Brazil. The new facility will provide product design and engineering, plus technology development with a primary focus on executive jet Interiors. The facility will be occupied by approximately 200 employees from Embraer's engineering workforce, laboratory teams, and support personnel.
In keeping with Embraer's focus on sustainability, one of the most unique aspects of the project is the parking. Instead of a traditional parking lot, parking for 220 vehicles is distributed throughout the site in order to preserve existing trees. There is also a focus on outdoor work spaces which include outdoor areas for meetings and dining.
