Northboro Elementary captures attention of White House

WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA - To gain a better perspective on how sustainability is being achieved in schools, Nancy Sutley, the principal environmental advisor to President Obama and chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality, was on hand last week for a tour of Northboro Elementary School in West Palm Beach.

BRPH director Cris Vigil joined school officials and the city's mayor in sharing the unique green features of the school.

BRPH's design of Northboro, a LEED Gold certified school, has allowed school officials to save more than 16 percent on energy bills through energy upgrades including advanced ventilation systems and lighting. The savings have been enough to pay for at least one additional teacher per year.
