BRPH Joins in Groundbreaking Ceremony for Pierson Elementary School

BRPH joined the Volusia County School District, Pierson Elementary personnel and students, and Welbro Building Corporation in a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Pierson Elementary School.

Scheduled to open in August of 2018, the BRPH designed school incorporates new standards for a 21st century educational facility. With input from students, teachers, faculty, staff and the community, the BRPH team designed a school with higher level learning concepts in mind. Focusing on STEM, the building design includes high-tech labs and learning areas that cultivate critical thinking as well as leadership skills. The interior design is flexible and adaptable for an ever-changing learning environment, while the exterior features elements that pay homage to the Pierson and Seville fern industry. The reception area will display a 1988 art sculpture, Ferns & Family, created by then Pierson art teacher, Tom Allocco, which is currently on display at the existing school.

When complete, the school will have two buildings, including 35 classrooms, a cafetorium, art and music rooms, an outdoor stage and physical education pavilion, and a media center that can be utilized by parents and the community.
