Last week, BRPH joined in on the national “Bring Your Kids to Work Day” at their corporate headquarters in Melbourne, Florida.
Eighteen kids ranging in age from eight to eighteen accompanied their parents to work, where they experienced a day full of educational activities that aimed to paint a picture of what their parents do and the other job opportunities offered at BRPH.
After an informal child/parent breakfast, the children were left in the hands of a few employees who facilitated a “BRPH Fair” throughout the day. The children learned about architecture and sketching, all disciplines of engineering, interior design and methods of developing creative solutions in hands-on, interactive activities.
Topping the list of “coolest things” the children participated in were demos of the firm’s Oculus Rift Virtual Reality and Matterport technologies.
When experiencing the Oculus Rift, the kids walked through one of the firm’s latest school designs, and after, offered suggestions about features that would make their schools better.
Open discussions about future goals and career opportunities and one-on-one time with their parents rounded out the day, making for a perfect balance of education and fun.
This was the firm’s first year participating in Bring Your Kids to Work Day, a new tradition sure to attract more participation in years to come.RSS
